VARIATIONS
Alternating Kettlebell Clean
One kettlebell switches hands each rep
This explosive movement develops power in the quadriceps and teaches efficient force transfer from the hips to the rack position. It builds unilateral stability while conditioning the grip and core.
HOW TO DO IT
- Stand with feet shoulder-width apart holding one kettlebell between your legs.
- Hinge at the hips and swing the bell back between your thighs.
- Drive through your heels to extend your hips violently upward.
- Pull the kettlebell close to your body as it rises.
- Rotate your hand around the handle to catch it in the rack position.
- Lower the bell back to the swing and switch hands for the next rep.
COMMON MISTAKES
- Rowing the weight up with the arm instead of hipping.
- Catching the bell with a bent wrist causing strain.
- Allowing the kettlebell to swing away from the body.
- Failing to rotate the hand fully into the rack.
TIPS
- Keep the elbow tight against your ribs during the pull.
- Let the momentum come from the hip snap, not the arm.
- Punch your hand through the window of the handle at the top.
