Dumbbell Biceps Curl Squat
This compound movement targets the biceps while engaging the hamstrings and glutes through a squat pattern. It combines an upper body isolation curl with a lower body hinge to coordinate full-body tension.
HOW TO DO IT
- Stand with feet shoulder-width apart holding a dumbbell in each hand.
- Hinge at the hips and squat down while lowering the weights toward the floor.
- Pause briefly at the bottom of the squat with arms fully extended.
- Drive through your heels to stand up while curling the dumbbells to your shoulders.
- Squeeze your biceps hard at the top of the movement.
- Lower the weights back down as you descend into the next squat.
COMMON MISTAKES
- Rounding the lower back while reaching for the floor.
- Curling the weights before fully standing up from the squat.
- Letting the knees cave inward during the ascent.
- Using momentum to swing the dumbbells instead of muscle control.
TIPS
- Keep your core braced to prevent rounding your lower back.
- Time the stand-up phase to match the peak of the curl.
- Drive through the mid-foot to maintain balance during the squat.
SAFETY
- Avoid rounding the spine when lowering the torso to protect the lower back.
- Do not hyperextend the elbows at the bottom of the curl under load.
