Works

  • Chest
  • Shoulders
  • Triceps

How to do it

  1. Place your toes on a sturdy bench or box.
  2. Position your hands on the floor slightly wider than shoulder width.
  3. Keep your body in a straight line from head to heels.
  4. Lower your chest until it nearly touches the floor.
  5. Push through your palms to return to the start position.

Common mistakes

  • Letting the hips drop or pike upward.
  • Flaring the elbows out at a 90-degree angle.
  • Failing to lower the chest deep enough.

Safety

Ensure the elevation surface is stable and will not slide.

Tips

  • Brace your core to prevent your hips from sagging.
  • Drive through the floor rather than just pushing up.
  • Keep your neck neutral by looking slightly ahead of your hands.
