How to do it
- Stand tall holding a dumbbell in each hand with palms facing your hips.
- Keep your elbow tucked at your side and curl the right weight toward your left shoulder.
- Squeeze the bicep hard at the top of the movement without rotating your wrist.
- Lower the dumbbell slowly along the same diagonal path to the start.
- Repeat immediately with the left arm curling toward the right shoulder.
- Continue alternating arms until you complete the desired number of repetitions.
Common mistakes
- Swinging the hips or leaning back to lift heavier weights.
- Rotating the wrist into a supinated position during the curl.
- Letting the elbow drift backward instead of staying under the wrist.
- Dropping the weight too quickly instead of controlling the descent.
Tips
- Lead the movement with your pinky finger to maintain a strict hammer grip.
- Keep your torso completely still to prevent using momentum.
- Focus on pulling your elbow forward slightly as the weight rises.
