High Cable Reverse Fly

Highest pulleys pull handles apart and down to hip level.

This exercise isolates the rear deltoids and upper back to improve shoulder stability and posture. The high cable angle emphasizes the lower fibers of the posterior deltoid.

HOW TO DO IT

  1. Set two pulleys to the highest position on the cable machine.
  2. Grab the left handle with your right hand and the right handle with your left hand.
  3. Step forward slightly to create tension while keeping your arms extended.
  4. Pull the handles apart and down in a wide arc until hands are level with hips.
  5. Squeeze your shoulder blades together at the end of the movement.
  6. Return handles to the start position with controlled resistance.

COMMON MISTAKES

  • Using too much weight which causes excessive elbow bending.
  • Shrugging shoulders up toward ears instead of depressing them.
  • Leaning back excessively to generate momentum.
  • Allowing cables to snap back quickly rather than controlling the return.

TIPS

  • Keep a slight bend in your elbows throughout the entire set.
  • Initiate the pull by driving your elbows back, not by bending your arms.
  • Maintain an upright torso without leaning backward for momentum.
