Works

  • Calves
  • Forearms
  • Quadriceps
  • Shoulders

How to do it

  1. Hold the rope handles lightly at hip height with elbows tucked close.
  2. Rotate the rope using only your wrists, not your shoulders.
  3. Jump just high enough to clear the rope, landing on the balls of your feet.
  4. Maintain a quick, rhythmic bounce with minimal knee bend.
  5. Keep your core tight and your gaze fixed forward.

Common mistakes

  • Swinging the arms too wide instead of rotating from the wrists.
  • Jumping too high, which wastes energy and increases joint stress.
  • Landing flat-footed or on the heels instead of the balls of the feet.
  • Stiffening the knees rather than maintaining a slight, springy bend.

Safety

Build jumping time gradually and stop if you feel sharp pain in your shins, ankles or Achilles.

Tips

  • Stay light on the toes like you are hopping on hot coals.
  • Keep the jumps low to maximize speed and minimize impact.
  • Relax the shoulders to prevent unnecessary upper body tension.
