  • Forearms

How to do it

  1. Stand upright facing a low pulley with a straight bar attached.
  2. Grab the bar with an overhand grip at shoulder width.
  3. Lock your elbows against your sides and keep them stationary.
  4. Curl the bar up toward your shoulders while exhaling.
  5. Squeeze your forearms and biceps hard at the top position.
  6. Lower the bar slowly to the start while inhaling.

Common mistakes

  • Swinging the torso to generate momentum.
  • Allowing the elbows to flare out away from the body.
  • Bending the wrists inward at the top of the curl.
  • Dropping the weight too fast on the way down.

Safety

Avoid hyperextending the elbows at the bottom of the movement.

Tips

  • Keep your wrists straight and rigid throughout the lift.
  • Focus on driving the movement with your knuckles.
  • Prevent your elbows from drifting forward or backward.
