  • Hamstrings

How to do it

  1. Stand tall with feet hip-width apart and hands on hips.
  2. Step forward with one leg and lower your hips.
  3. Bend both knees until the back knee nearly touches the floor.
  4. Keep your front knee aligned directly over your ankle.
  5. Push through the front heel to stand up.
  6. Bring the rear foot forward to meet the leading leg.

Common mistakes

  • Letting the front knee cave inward.
  • Striking the back knee hard against the ground.
  • Leaning too far forward over the front knee.

Tips

  • Keep your torso upright throughout the entire movement.
  • Drive through the mid-foot of the front leg.
  • Maintain a slight forward lean from the hips, not the waist.
