Calves Forearms Quadriceps Shoulders
How to do it
- Hold the rope handles lightly at hip height with elbows tucked close.
- Rotate the rope using only your wrists, not your shoulders.
- Jump just high enough to clear the rope, landing on the balls of your feet.
- Maintain a quick, rhythmic bounce with minimal knee bend.
- Keep your core tight and your gaze fixed forward.
Common mistakes
- Swinging the arms too wide instead of rotating from the wrists.
- Jumping too high, which wastes energy and increases joint stress.
- Landing flat-footed or on the heels instead of the balls of the feet.
- Stiffening the knees rather than maintaining a slight, springy bend.
Safety
Build jumping time gradually and stop if you feel sharp pain in your shins, ankles or Achilles.
Tips
- Stay light on the toes like you are hopping on hot coals.
- Keep the jumps low to maximize speed and minimize impact.
- Relax the shoulders to prevent unnecessary upper body tension.
