How to do it

  1. Anchor a yellow or green band at face height.

  3. Step back until tension exists in the band.
  4. Pull the band towards your face while flaring elbows out.
  5. Squeeze your shoulder blades together at the end of the motion.
  6. Slowly return your hands to the starting position.

Common mistakes

  • Pulling the band too low towards the chest.
  • Keeping elbows tucked close to the ribs.
  • Leaning forward excessively to generate momentum.
  • Failing to fully retract the shoulder blades.

Tips

  • Think about pulling your hands apart as you pull back.
  • Keep your thumbs pointing behind you at the finish.
  • Initiate the movement by driving your elbows up and out.
