How to do it
- Stand facing a sturdy bench with feet hip-width apart.
- Place your entire right foot firmly on the bench surface.
- Drive through the right heel to lift your body up.
- Bring your left foot up to meet the right on top.
- Step back down with the left foot, then the right.
- Complete all reps on one leg before switching sides.
Common mistakes
- Pushing off the floor with the trailing foot.
- Letting the working knee cave inward during ascent.
- Placing only the ball of the foot on the bench.
- Rushing the descent and losing balance.
Safety
Ensure the bench is stable and will not slide or tip.
Tips
- Keep your torso upright and core braced throughout the movement.
- Drive through the heel of the working leg, not the toes.
- Avoid pushing off the trailing leg to initiate the lift.
