How to do it
- Attach a V-bar to the high pulley of a cable machine.
- Stand facing the machine with feet shoulder-width apart.
- Grip the bar with palms facing each other and elbows tucked at your sides.
- Push the bar down until your arms are fully extended.
- Squeeze your triceps hard at the bottom of the movement.
- Slowly return the bar to the starting position without flaring your elbows.
Common mistakes
- Flaring elbows out to the sides during the descent.
- Using body weight to jerk the bar down instead of muscle force.
- Allowing shoulders to roll forward at the bottom of the rep.
- Cutting the range of motion short before full extension.
Tips
- Imagine your elbows are glued to your ribs throughout the set.
- Drive through the heels to maintain a stable base.
- Focus on extending the forearm rather than just pushing the weight down.
