Works
Abdominals Obliques
How to do it
- Lie flat on your back with knees bent and feet on the floor.
- Place your hands lightly behind your head without pulling on your neck.
- Lift your right shoulder toward your left knee while twisting your torso.
- Lower back to the start position with control.
- Repeat the motion on the opposite side, bringing left shoulder to right knee.
Common mistakes
- Pulling on the neck with interlocked fingers.
- Rushing the movement and using momentum instead of muscle.
- Lifting the hips off the floor rather than curling the spine.
Tips
- Exhale sharply as you twist to maximize abdominal contraction.
- Keep your lower back pressed firmly into the floor throughout the set.
- Initiate the twist from your ribcage, not just your arms.
