High Cable Pullover
Standing pull brings high cable bar down in wide arc to thighs.
This movement isolates the latissimus dorsi and serratus anterior by forcing them to contract against resistance from a high anchor point. It builds width in the back and improves shoulder extension mobility.
HOW TO DO IT
- Stand facing the high pulley with feet shoulder-width apart.
- Grab the straight bar with an overhand grip at shoulder width.
- Step back slightly to create tension with arms fully extended.
- Keep your torso upright and core braced throughout the set.
- Pull the bar down in a wide arc to your thighs.
- Squeeze your lats hard at the bottom before returning slowly.
COMMON MISTAKES
- Bending the elbows too much and turning it into a triceps pushdown.
- Using momentum by leaning forward excessively during the pull.
- Shrugging the shoulders up toward the ears instead of depressing them.
- Allowing the bar to snap back up without controlling the eccentric.
TIPS
- Imagine pushing your elbows down toward your hips rather than pulling with hands.
- Maintain a slight bend in the elbows to protect the joint.
- Keep your chest up to prevent the upper back from rounding.
SAFETY
- Avoid hyperextending the lower back when pulling the bar to the thighs.
