How to do it
- Place hands shoulder-width apart on a sturdy elevated surface, fingers pointing toward your feet.
- Walk feet back until your body forms a straight line from head to heels.
- Lower your chest toward the surface by bending your elbows.
- Keep your elbows tucked close to your ribs during the descent.
- Push through your palms to extend your arms and return to the start.
Common mistakes
- Flaring elbows out wide instead of tucking them.
- Letting the hips drop or pike up during the movement.
- Using a surface that is too high for effective resistance.
- Shrugging shoulders up toward the ears under load.
Tips
- Drive your palms into the surface to activate the upper chest.
- Squeeze your glutes and abs to prevent hip sagging.
- Imagine pulling the surface toward your toes as you lower down.
