How to do it
- Start in a high plank position with hands under shoulders.
- Push hips up and back into a downward dog shape.
- Reach one hand toward the opposite foot to deepen the stretch.
- Rotate your torso to open the chest toward the ceiling.
- Return the hand to the floor and step forward into a lunge.
- Repeat the sequence on the other side.
Common mistakes
- Rounding the spine excessively instead of hinging at the hips.
- Locking the elbows rigidly while bearing weight.
- Rushing the movement and skipping the rotational pause.
Tips
- Pedal the feet to release tight calves during the dog position.
- Initiate the rotation from the mid-back rather than just the neck.
- Keep the supporting leg straight to maximize hamstring engagement.
