How to do it

  1. Stand tall with your core engaged and shoulders relaxed.
  2. Lift one knee slightly higher than a walking stride.
  3. Land softly on the mid-foot directly under your center of mass.
  4. Push off gently with the toes to propel yourself forward.
  5. Keep a steady pace at which you can still hold a conversation.
  6. Swing your arms naturally in opposition to your legs.

Common mistakes

  • Overstriding and landing heavily on the heels.
  • Tensing the shoulders and holding breath during movement.
  • Leaning too far forward from the waist.

Safety

Stop if you feel chest pain, dizziness or unusual shortness of breath.

Tips

  • Keep your gaze fixed on the horizon to maintain posture.
  • Focus on a quiet footstrike to reduce impact forces.
  • Breathe rhythmically to sustain your energy levels.
