How to do it
- Lie on your back with knees bent and feet flat on the floor hip-width apart.
- Extend your arms straight down by your sides with palms facing your thighs.
- Lift your shoulders slightly off the ground and reach your right hand toward your right heel.
- Return to the center position while keeping your upper back elevated.
- Reach your left hand toward your left heel to complete one repetition.
- Continue alternating sides rhythmically until you finish the set.
Common mistakes
- Lifting the entire upper back off the floor instead of just the shoulders.
- Using momentum to swing the arms rather than contracting the obliques.
- Holding the breath instead of exhaling during the reach.
- Letting the lower back arch excessively off the mat.
Tips
- Keep your chin tucked slightly to avoid straining the neck.
- Focus on crunching sideways rather than lifting straight up.
- Maintain constant tension in the abs throughout the entire set.
