Cable Knee Tuck

This isolation exercise targets the abdominal muscles by pulling the knees toward the chest against cable resistance from a kneeling position. It emphasizes the lower abs and hip flexors through a controlled spinal flexion and hip tuck.

HOW TO DO IT

  1. Attach ankle straps to a low pulley and lie on your back facing the machine.
  2. Extend your legs slightly so the cable creates tension while keeping knees bent.
  3. Place your hands on your thighs or the floor for stability.
  4. Pull your knees toward your chest while rounding your lower spine.
  5. Pause briefly at the top of the movement to maximize abdominal contraction.
  6. Slowly extend your legs back to the starting position without letting the stack touch down.

COMMON MISTAKES

  • Using momentum to swing the legs instead of controlling the weight.
  • Allowing the hips to drop too quickly during the eccentric phase.
  • Pulling on the neck with hands placed behind the head.
  • Extending legs fully and losing tension on the abdominal muscles.

TIPS

  • Initiate the movement by curling the pelvis rather than just bending the knees.
  • Keep constant tension on the cable throughout the entire range of motion.
  • Exhale sharply as you bring your knees toward your torso.

SAFETY

  • Avoid arching the lower back excessively when extending the legs.
  • Ensure ankle straps are secure to prevent sudden release of tension.
