Cable Step Down
Hands grasp cable stirrups at chest height
This compound movement targets the quadriceps while engaging the glutes and adductors for stability. It builds unilateral leg strength and improves balance through a controlled lowering phase.
HOW TO DO IT
- Grasp the cable stirrups with both hands at chest height.
- Place one foot firmly on the elevated platform.
- Stand tall by extending the hip and knee of the working leg.
- Slowly lower your body until the trailing foot touches the floor.
- Drive through the heel to return to the starting position.
- Complete all repetitions on one side before switching legs.
COMMON MISTAKES
- Letting the working knee cave inward during the descent.
- Using momentum to bounce back up from the bottom.
- Leaning the torso too far forward over the platform.
TIPS
- Keep the knee of the working leg aligned with the second toe.
- Maintain an upright torso throughout the entire movement.
- Control the descent to maximize time under tension.
SAFETY
- Ensure the platform is stable and will not slip during use.
