Works
Quadriceps
How to do it
- Lie face down with forearms on the floor for support.
- Place the foam roller under one thigh just above the knee.
- Lift the opposite foot off the ground to isolate the working leg.
- Slowly roll your body forward and backward from hip to knee.
- Pause and hold pressure on any tender spots for 20 seconds.
Common mistakes
- Rolling too fast without pausing on tight areas.
- Supporting too much weight with the arms instead of the leg.
- Rolling directly over the knee joint or hip bone.
- Tensing the quadriceps instead of letting them go limp.
Safety
Avoid rolling directly over the kneecap to prevent joint irritation.
Keep pressure uncomfortable but tolerable; stop if you feel sharp pain, numbness or tingling.
Tips
- Relax the thigh muscle completely to allow deeper pressure.
- Rotate the leg slightly inward and outward to hit different fibers.
- Breathe steadily to help the nervous system release tension.
