VARIATIONS
Low Cable Fly
Cables pull upward from low anchors to meet in front of the face.
This exercise targets the upper chest fibers by pulling cables from a low angle upward. It also engages the front deltoids to stabilize the shoulder joint during the arc.
HOW TO DO IT
- Set both pulleys to the lowest position on the cable stack.
- Grab the handles with palms facing forward or slightly inward.
- Step forward into a staggered stance with knees softly bent.
- Pull the handles up and together in front of your face.
- Squeeze your pectorals hard at the top of the movement.
- Lower your arms slowly back to the starting position.
COMMON MISTAKES
- Using too much weight and turning it into a raise.
- Locking the elbows completely which shifts tension to joints.
- Leaning too far back to generate momentum.
TIPS
- Lead the movement with your elbows, not your hands.
- Keep a slight bend in your elbows throughout the set.
- Visualize hugging a large barrel to maintain proper arc.
SAFETY
- Avoid hyperextending the lower back when pulling the weight up.
