Triceps Push-Up
Elbows stay tucked close to the ribs
This bodyweight movement isolates the triceps by keeping the elbows tucked close to the torso. It builds pressing strength and elbow stability without requiring equipment.
HOW TO DO IT
- Start in a high plank with hands slightly narrower than shoulder width.
- Rotate your palms inward so fingers point toward each other or form a diamond.
- Keep your elbows glued to your ribs as you lower your chest.
- Descend until your upper arms are parallel to the floor.
- Push through your palms to extend your arms and return to the start.
COMMON MISTAKES
- Flaring elbows out to the sides like a standard push-up.
- Sagging the hips or lifting the butt too high.
- Partial range of motion by not lowering deep enough.
TIPS
- Visualize screwing your hands into the floor to engage the lats.
- Keep your hips level with your shoulders throughout the descent.
- Focus on driving your elbows back rather than just pushing up.
