How to do it
- Sit on the machine with your back flat against the pad.
- Place the balls of your feet on the platform with heels hanging off.
- Release the safety handles and straighten your legs fully.
- Push through the toes to raise your heels as high as possible.
- Pause briefly at the top of the movement.
- Lower your heels slowly until you feel a deep stretch in the calves.
- After the last rep, re-engage the safety handles before moving your feet.
Common mistakes
- Bending the knees during the lift.
- Using momentum to bounce the weight up.
- Cutting the range of motion short at the top.
- Placing the entire foot on the platform instead of just the toes.
Safety
Never let your knees lock or hyperextend while holding the sled.
Ensure the safety stops are engaged before resting to prevent the weight from crushing your legs.
Tips
- Drive through the big toe to maximize contraction.
- Avoid bouncing at the bottom of the rep.
- Keep your knees straight but not locked throughout the set.
