Cable Pallof Press With Rotation

Upper body rotates away from the machine after pressing out.

This compound movement trains anti-rotation core stability while dynamically challenging the abs, chest, and shoulders through a controlled twist. It builds trunk stiffness and teaches proper bracing under tension.

HOW TO DO IT

  1. Attach a handle to the cable machine at shoulder height.
  2. Stand sideways to the tower and hold the handle with both hands at your chest.
  3. Step away until the cable creates steady tension on your torso.
  4. Press your hands straight out in front of you.
  5. Rotate your upper body away from the machine while keeping hips square.
  6. Return slowly to the center and bring your hands back to your chest.

COMMON MISTAKES

  • Rotating the hips instead of isolating the torso.
  • Allowing the cable to pull the shoulders forward.
  • Rushing the return phase and losing tension.

TIPS

  • Brace your abs as if preparing for a punch.
  • Keep your hips facing forward throughout the entire rotation.
  • Drive the movement from your ribcage, not your arms.
