VARIATIONS
High Plank
Body holds still in a straight line
This static hold builds core stability and shoulder endurance by resisting spinal flexion. It strengthens the entire anterior chain without requiring equipment.
HOW TO DO IT
- Place hands directly under shoulders with fingers spread wide.
- Extend legs back until toes touch the floor.
- Lift hips to form a straight line from head to heels.
- Engage abs and squeeze glutes to hold the position.
- Breathe steadily while maintaining rigid body alignment.
COMMON MISTAKES
- Letting hips sag toward the floor.
- Piking hips too high into an inverted V.
- Shrugging shoulders up toward the ears.
- Holding breath instead of breathing rhythmically.
TIPS
- Pull belly button toward spine to brace the core.
- Push the floor away to prevent shoulder blade sagging.
- Squeeze quads to keep legs active and straight.
