Chest Shoulders Triceps
How to do it
- Place hands on a sturdy elevated surface slightly wider than shoulder width.
- Walk feet back until arms and body form a straight line.
- Lower your chest toward the surface by bending your elbows.
- Keep your core tight and hips level throughout the descent.
- Push through your palms to extend arms and return to the start.
Common mistakes
- Sagging hips or lifting buttocks too high.
- Flaring elbows out wide to the sides.
- Partial range of motion without touching the surface.
- Dropping the head forward instead of keeping neck neutral.
Safety
Use a stable surface that cannot slide or tip, such as a fixed bench or a wall, not anything on wheels.
Tips
- Squeeze shoulder blades together at the top of the movement.
- Keep elbows tucked at a 45-degree angle to the torso.
- Maintain a rigid plank position from head to heels.
