VARIATIONS
One-Arm Kettlebell Split Jerk
Single kettlebell held in one hand at rack position
This explosive unilateral movement develops overhead power and shoulder stability by transferring force from the lower body through the arm. It trains full-body coordination and rapid force production.
HOW TO DO IT
- Clean the kettlebell to the rack position on one shoulder.
- Dip your knees slightly while keeping your torso upright.
- Explosively drive through your heels to extend your hips and knees.
- Punch the kettlebell overhead as you drop into a split stance.
- Lock your arm out fully with the weight directly over your shoulder.
- Return your feet together and lower the kettlebell to the rack.
COMMON MISTAKES
- Pressing the weight instead of using leg drive.
- Leaning the torso forward during the dip phase.
- Failing to lock the elbow out at the top.
- Landing with feet too close together for stability.
TIPS
- Punch the weight up, do not press it slowly.
- Keep your core braced hard during the dip and drive.
- Land softly in the split position to absorb the load.
SAFETY
- Ensure the wrist remains straight to avoid joint strain under load.
- Do not hyperextend the lower back when receiving the weight overhead.
