VARIATIONS
One-Arm Kettlebell Push Press
One kettlebell rests in the rack position at one shoulder.
This compound movement develops explosive shoulder strength by using leg drive to propel the kettlebell overhead. It coordinates lower body power with upper body stability for efficient force transfer.
HOW TO DO IT
- Clean the kettlebell to the rack position at your shoulder.
- Dip your knees slightly while keeping your torso upright.
- Explosively extend your legs to generate upward momentum.
- Press the kettlebell overhead until your arm is fully locked out.
- Lower the weight back to the rack position under control.
COMMON MISTAKES
- Dipping too deep instead of using a quick snap.
- Pressing with the arm before the legs fully extend.
- Leaning the torso backward to gain extra height.
- Failing to lock out the elbow at the top.
TIPS
- Drive through the mid-foot to maximize vertical force.
- Keep the wrist straight and stacked over the forearm.
- Time the arm press to match the peak of the leg drive.
SAFETY
- Ensure the wrist remains neutral to avoid joint strain under load.
- Maintain a braced core to protect the lower back during the dip.
