Standing Side Crunch
Elbow crunches toward the hip without weights.
This bodyweight movement isolates the obliques to build lateral core strength and stability. It improves trunk control while maintaining an upright standing posture.
HOW TO DO IT
- Stand with feet shoulder-width apart and hands behind your head.
- Keep your hips fixed and lean your torso directly to the right.
- Contract your right oblique to bring your right elbow toward your hip.
- Return slowly to the upright starting position.
- Repeat on the left side.
COMMON MISTAKES
- Bending forward instead of purely to the side.
- Pulling on the head with the hands.
- Swinging the hips to generate momentum.
- Holding breath during the contraction.
TIPS
- Visualize squeezing a towel between your ribs and hip bone.
- Keep your gaze forward to prevent neck strain.
- Move only at the waist, not the hips.
