How to do it
- Stand tall holding a dumbbell in each hand with arms fully extended.
- Keep a slight bend in your elbows throughout the entire movement.
- Lift both weights straight forward until they reach shoulder height.
- Pause briefly at the top without swinging your torso.
- Lower the dumbbells slowly back to your thighs.
Common mistakes
- Using momentum to swing the weights up.
- Raising the arms higher than shoulder level.
- Bending the elbows too much, turning it into a curl.
- Arching the lower back to get extra height.
Tips
- Lead the movement with your knuckles, not your elbows.
- Keep your core braced to prevent leaning backward.
- Imagine pouring water out of the front of the dumbbells at the top.
