Works

  • Shoulders
  • Side Delts

How to do it

  1. Stand on the center of the band with feet shoulder-width apart.
  2. Grasp the handles with palms facing your thighs.
  3. Keep a slight bend in your elbows and raise arms out to the sides.
  4. Lift until your hands reach shoulder height.
  5. Lower the handles slowly back to the starting position.

Common mistakes

  • Using momentum to swing the arms upward.
  • Shrugging the traps instead of isolating the delts.
  • Raising the arms higher than shoulder level.
  • Locking the elbows completely straight.

Safety

Check the band for nicks, tears or worn spots before each use.

Tips

  • Lead the movement with your elbows, not your hands.
  • Pour an imaginary pitcher of water at the top of the lift.
  • Keep your shoulders down and away from your ears.
