Sit-Up
Feet are secured under a stable object while hands clasp behind the head
This bodyweight isolation movement targets the abdominal muscles by flexing the spine against gravity. It builds core strength and endurance for foundational torso stability.
HOW TO DO IT
- Lie flat on your back with knees bent and feet secured under a stable object.
- Clasp your hands behind your head without pulling on your neck.
- Exhale and curl your torso upward until your chest nears your knees.
- Pause briefly at the top to maximize abdominal contraction.
- Inhale and slowly lower your upper back to the starting position.
COMMON MISTAKES
- Pulling on the neck with interlocked hands.
- Using hip flexors to swing the body up instead of abs.
- Rushing the descent and skipping the bottom stretch.
- Holding breath throughout the entire repetition.
TIPS
- Drive the movement with your abs, not by yanking your head forward.
- Keep your lower back pressed into the floor at the start.
- Exhale fully at the top of the movement to engage deeper fibers.
SAFETY
- Avoid this exercise if you have existing lower back disc issues.
