Front Leg Raises

Free leg swings forward high then back behind

This dynamic stretch targets the hamstrings and hip flexors to improve lower body range of motion. It prepares the legs for running or kicking movements by actively lengthening the posterior chain.

HOW TO DO IT

  1. Stand upright next to a wall or chair for balance.
  2. Keep your supporting leg slightly bent and your torso tall.
  3. Swing your free leg forward as high as comfortable.
  4. Allow the leg to swing back down and behind you naturally.
  5. Repeat the swinging motion for the desired repetitions.
  6. Switch legs and repeat the sequence on the other side.

COMMON MISTAKES

  • Bending the knee of the swinging leg.
  • Leaning the torso forward to gain extra height.
  • Swinging too fast and losing control of the movement.

TIPS

  • Keep the swinging leg straight throughout the entire arc.
  • Engage your core to prevent excessive arching in the lower back.
  • Use the momentum of the swing rather than muscle force.
