VARIATIONS
Rocket Jump
Arms swing backward then overhead to maximize vertical height.
This plyometric movement develops explosive power in the quadriceps and calves by training rapid force production. It improves vertical leap and athletic acceleration through full-body extension.
HOW TO DO IT
- Stand with feet shoulder-width apart and arms at your sides.
- Squat down halfway while swinging your arms backward.
- Explode upward by extending hips, knees, and ankles simultaneously.
- Swing arms overhead to maximize vertical height.
- Land softly on the balls of your feet with knees bent.
COMMON MISTAKES
- Squatting too deep before initiating the jump.
- Landing with straight legs instead of absorbing impact.
- Failing to swing arms for upward momentum.
- Heel striking hard upon landing.
TIPS
- Minimize ground contact time between the squat and the jump.
- Drive through the mid-foot to generate maximum force.
- Keep your core tight throughout the entire movement.
SAFETY
- Avoid this exercise if you have existing knee or ankle injuries.
- Ensure adequate landing space to prevent tripping or collision.
