Incline EZ-Bar Skullcrusher

Incline bench angle shifts focus to the long triceps head.

This movement isolates the triceps with a focus on the long head due to the shoulder flexion from the incline. It builds elbow extension strength and arm mass using the angled grip of the EZ bar.

HOW TO DO IT

  1. Lie back on an incline bench holding an EZ bar with arms extended over your chest.
  2. Keep your upper arms perpendicular to the floor and stationary throughout the set.
  3. Bend only at the elbows to lower the bar toward your forehead.
  4. Pause briefly when the bar is just above your hairline.
  5. Extend your elbows forcefully to return the bar to the starting position.

COMMON MISTAKES

  • Flaring the elbows outward instead of keeping them tucked.
  • Moving the upper arms forward or backward during the lift.
  • Lowering the bar too far behind the head.
  • Using momentum to bounce the weight off the forehead.

TIPS

  • Imagine your upper arms are cast in concrete and cannot move.
  • Tuck your chin slightly to create clearance for the bar path.
  • Focus on stretching the triceps at the bottom of the rep.

SAFETY

  • Do not lower the bar behind your head if you lack shoulder mobility.
  • Ensure the bar path clears your face to avoid impact injury.
